Abstract:
This paper considers an application of a simulation model to the management of converter production logistics processes. The simulation model has been developed to determine the optimal time interval of delivering the melts to the converters. The goal of optimization is to find such a time interval in which the waiting time of the service on a continuous casting machine will be minimal, and downtime of the continuous casting machine will be minimal because it influences on the resources spending and the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The simulation model has been developed in a simulation module of the metallurgical enterprise information system. The simulation module supports a multi agent simulation. Agents in the developed model are intended to describe the cutting slabs algorithm used by technologists in the metallurgical production. As a result of a series of experiments with the model the best time interval between deliveries of the melts on the converters has been found and equal to 20 minutes. © Springer International Publishing AG 2016.
