Abstract:
The article presents a new technique of strength and rigidity calculation for cylinder exhaust hood of low pressure steam turbines, validated and developed with the use of finite element method. The technique application makes it possible to design steam turbine exhaust hoods with lower labor costs and metal consumption. The calculation technique was verified using the results of exhaust hoods model tests of T-100 turbine series. Calculated results confirmed the feasibility of upgrading for exhaust hoods of T-100 turbine series. New design of exhaust hood for T-125 / 150-12,8 turbine is presented. The effect of the proposed technical solutions on the exhaust hood reliability is determined along with the load type impact on the equivalent stress magnitude and distribution. (C) 2016 The Authors.
