Abstract:
The mechanism of unidirectional exchange anisotropy at thermomagnetic treatment of permalloy manganese bilayers has been studied. It has been found that beginning from the annealing temperature of 230 degrees C a hysteresis loop shift appears. The maximal exchange bias of 155 Oe is reached after the annealing at 250 degrees C for 2 hours. It is demonstrated by transmission electron microscopy that the exchange bias arises and the coercive force increases due to the formation of antiferromagnetic NiFeMn phase resulting from diffusion interaction of permalloy and manganese at annealing.
