Abstract:
The crystalline substances form a new class of materials for the infrared fiber optics. For these purposes, the defective crystals are necessary, which have different structure-sensitive properties: optical, mechanical, luminescent, photochemical, et al. These properties are determined by crystal compositions and degree of their defectiveness. The term «defect» has acquired a sense of an ordinary structural element of the crystal, where the crystalline material properties depend on it. © 2016 IEEE.
