Abstract:

The emergence of the new phenomena in Russian society in the last decade is connected with the geopolitical, economic, social changes, including the changes in the system of education, especially in higher education. We mean as a legal base as social aspects. Now the system of higher education in Russia enters the next level of its development. Consequently, it is so important to study socio-demographic characteristics of modern students as a basis of any research. This research is dedicated to studying socio-demographic characteristics of students of engineering Institutes of the Ural Federal University. As a result of this investigation, we can make a socio-demographic portrait of the future engineer in Russia. It is so important in the Ural region, because it is an industrial region with many factories, manufactures, civil engineering. If in the USSR engineering higher education had very high prestige, so in years of perestroika higher education fell into decline. But the situation in the modern economy in Russia shows us that the professionalism of the engineering and technical personnel is the important part of the modernization of all economic system.
