Abstract:
The directional solidification of ternary systems at a constant rate is studied. The following analytical solutions to the problem are found: the temperature and concentration distributions and the fractions of the solid phases of solidifying components in the parent and cotectic mushy zones, which represent a phase transition region. The solidification rate and the mushy zone lengths are determined. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
