Abstract:
The first study of two LL6 ordinary chondrites NWA 6286 and NWA 7857 using Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy and magnetization measurements, revealed the main and minor iron-bearing minerals including olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric troilite, chromite and hercynite as well as alpha-Fe(Ni, Co), alpha(2)-Fe(Ni, Co) and gamma-Fe(Ni, Co) phases. Some observed differences between two ordinary chondrites were related to different content of metallic phases and non-stoichiometric troilite. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
