Abstract:
A new optimized algorithm for the calculation of gravity field of 3D density models is offered for the case of regular grid models. Model discretization with finite elements is used, and the field is calculated as a sum of gravity effects of each element. Using described optimization, the computational complexity of field calculation could be reduced by two orders of magnitude. Optimized forward problem solution algorithm can be used to optimize algorithm for iterative inverse problem solution.
