Abstract:
An automated information system for analysis and prediction of production situations in the blast furnace plant (AIS APPS) was developed and implemented in the blast-furnace plant of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. It helps engineers and operators to solve a complex of process tasks ultimately aimed at increasing efficiency of blast-furnace smelting. As the experience shows, creation and successful implementation of modern automated information systems in operation of iron and steel companies depend on applied design techniques and selection of the software implementation tools in many respects. The paper briefly describes the main techniques and programming tools used by the authors to create software for information modelling systems to solve process tasks of blast-furnace production. Application of modern techniques, tools and methods for software development makes it possible to create functional, reliable, easy-to-use attended integrable systems with minimum risks and within reasonable periods.
