Abstract:

2-(2-Carbethoxy-1-amino-1-thio)ethylenepyradinium(isoqunolinium) ylids were obtained by the reaction of carbethoxycyanomethylpyridinium(isoquinolinium) ylids with hydrogen sulfide. In an alkaline medium they cyclize into 5-mercaptosubstituted imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines(isoquinolines). The structure of the latter compounds was confirmed by PMR and IR spectroscopy. © 1990 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
