Abstract:
The strutting pressure (SP), i.e. static and dynamic loads on the masonry of coke-oven batteries, appearing under loading and coking of coal charges is studied. The SP behavior is shown to be analogous for various coal charges. Two maxima are revealed. The value and the time of maximum appearance depend on the charge properties and coking conditions. The first maximum is caused by the increase of expansion and decrease of gas permeability in the plastic layer and following deformation due to coke-semicoke layer shrinkage. The second maximum is attributed to the confluence of plastic layers in axial plane of loading. The SP value in the industrial ovens is greater by a few times than that in the pilot sets.
