Abstract:

The strength calculations of heating piers are carried out for the increase of coke-oven battery working stability. The technique for calculation of the coke oven pier deflection fields, the active stresses, and lateral forces is developed in view of coking pressure, the masonry mass, and the loads on the lateral covering. The calculation takes into account the existence of increased stiffness zone in the piers, and the possible affect of lateral forces on the pier bending.
