Abstract:
The aging processes of 03N18K3M3T maraging steel of commercial melting are investigated by using the dilatometric, x-ray diffraction and fractographic methods as well as the tests for corrosion and delayed fracturing. It is shown that the fracturing crack is being propagated in the grain boundaries after quenching from 820°C and aging at 400°C. This results in brittle fracture. An availability of strong single-component texture in martensite, retained after forging, high-temperature and basic quenching is revealed by x-ray diffraction analysis.
