Abstract:
Sikhote Alin, Chinga, Bilibino, and Dronino iron meteorites and products of their terrestrial weathering were studied using Mössbauer spectroscopy using a highly sensitive precision spectrometer. The parameters of the hyperfine structure of 57Fe nuclei in meteorite samples were estimated and compared. Their relation with corresponding Fe(Ni) phases, oxides, oxyhydroxides, and other iron compounds was proposed. The results obtained were considered taking into account the Ni concentration, terrestrial age, and meteorite corrosion conditions. © 2006 by Allerton Press, Inc.
