Abstract:
The primary processes of the oxyhemoglobin irradiation in solution were analyzed by Mössbauer and positron life-time spectroscopies. We studied the effect of γ-irradiation with an average energy of 15.5 MeV with doses from 100 to 600 kGy on the erythrocytes solution and that of γ-irradiation with average energy of 9 MeV with doses from 16.5 to 33 kGy on the oxyhemoglobin solution and the effect of electron irradiation with average energy of 10 MeV with doses from 1.7 to 5 kGy on oxyhemoglobin in solution. Mössbauer spectra showed the changes of oxyhemoglobin content in the samples after irradiation and deoxygenation of oxyhemoglobin as well as new iron-containing compounds formation. Positron life-time spectra reflected structural modifications of irradiated solutions. © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
