Abstract:
Iron-dextran complexes are pharmaceutically important models of iron-storage protein ferritin. These complexes are used for treatment of iron-deficiency anemias. In this work we present the results of the study of various iron-dextran complexes by Mössbauer spectroscopy and the positron annihilation technique. Mössbauer spectroscopy indicated the differences between the electronic and magnetic structures of iron cores in iron-dextran complexes while positron annihilation showed variations of dextran shells in those complexes. Both techniques appeared to be useful to study microstructural variations in iron-dextran complexes. © 1993.
