Abstract:

An investigation was made of the variation of the coefficient of heat transfer from vertical and inclined surfaces and horizontal cylinders to a high packed fluidized bed scavenged with air, as a function of the diameter of the packing bed particles and the mass velocity of the air. Experiments with industrial equipment have proved the advantage of performing endothermic reactions in a packed fluidized bed. A method is suggested for burning an air/gas mixture in a packing under the fluidized bed, thus making it possible to obtain any temperature from 100 to 800 degree C within the bed.
