Abstract:
The temperature displacement of the optical absorption exponential edge in statically disordered solids was analyzed in terms of single-phonon approximation. A semi-quantitative model was derived to describe, with a fair degree of correctness, the temperature effects near the fundamental absorption edge in statically disordered solids. The approach explained the temperature shifts of the long-wave optical edge of PbO-SiO2 binary glasses by the interaction of electron optical transitions between localized states of band tails with predominantly low-frequency deformation vibrations of the lead-oxygen sublattice.
