Abstract:
The effect of temperature on the 6.05-eV absorption band in the optical spectra of α-Al2O3 TLD-500 detectors was examined in the interval from 80 to 515 K. Using the one-coordinate model with a strong electron-phonon coupling, it was shown that this band was formed by two peaks at 5.91 and 6.22 eV (T = 293 K) associated with absorption at F+- and F-centers, respectively. Calculated parameters of experimental temperature dependencies are correlated with literature data. The obtained results permit an interpretation of the absorption spectra of detectors possessing different radiation sensitivities. © 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
