Abstract:
We present X-ray photoelectron (XPS) and soft X-ray emission (XES) spectra of LiNiO2, LiFeO2 and LiCrO2. The concentration of holes per oxygen ion in LiNiO2 is estimated and a classification of the investigated oxides is given. We propose, that LiFeO2 should be placed in the intermediate region between a charge-transfer and a Mott-Hubbard insulator and LiCrO2 can most likely be assigned to the Mott-Hubbard insulators. © 1995.
