Abstract:
Cleanliness of rail steel is improved. Content of non-metallic inclusions in the steel is reduced. However, quality of rail-road rails can additionally be improved by means of variation of the steel microstructure. Liquid rail steel is characterized by micro non-uniform structure. Heating of the steel to critical temperature leads to assurance of uniform equilibrium structure. Temperature of crystallization of the steel is reduced in this case. Structure of cast steel is improved. Determination of the critical temperature is described. Additional investigations are necessary.
