Abstract:
Search for new ways of improving operating properties of metal products involves various setup steps before solidification of melts and as uniform as possible distribution of components among microvolumes of liquid metal. The easiest and most feasible methods of controlling the liquid metal structure before solidification are the choice of a melting temperature, the sequence of the introduction of alloying elements, deoxidizers and modifiers, the heating and cooling rates in liquid state. It is shown that irrespective of the setup technique prior to solidification, it is efficient for metals of various grades used for ingots, castings, powders and amorphous strips.
