Abstract:
The temperature coefficient of surface tension of molten steel commonly has a positive sign. This suggests the breaking of surface-active associations between the atoms. The surface tension values ( sigma ) during heating and during their subsequent cooling coincide if heating does not proceed above the critical temperature t//c. When specimens are heated above t//c, their original structure does not recover during subsequent cooling.
