Abstract:
The complex structure of the melt of steel 10Kh23N18 was confirmed by an investigation of its viscosity and magnetic susceptibility as a function of temperature, and of the variation in the short-range atomic order parameters of liquid specimens of this steel. The characteristic temperature values were determined at which there is significant structural rebuilding in a melt of this composition. A melt of 10Kh23N18 reaches an equilibrium state only when it is heated to 1740 degree C. In an equilibrium state the melt of 10Kh23N18 is a solution of chrome and nickel in iron.
