Abstract:
The crystal structure and the magnetic state of polycrystal line samples of the system LaMn1-xVxO3 were determined by X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction and magnetic measurements from 4.2 to 293 K. The crystal structure was shown to keep the same symmetry (space group Pnma) after the substitution of Mn-ions by V. We observed a change of the magnetic state from a canted antiferromagnetic state with antiferromagnetic moments along the a-axis and a ferromagnetic along the b-axis, for x<0.4 to an antiferromagnetic ordering parallel to the b-axis for x>0.9. The compounds inside of the transition region 0.4<x<0.9 show a spin glass-like state. A magnetic phase diagram of the system LaMn1-xVxO3 was constructed.
