Abstract:
The evolution of gases upon heating the glass enamel frit to 850-900 °C is studied by mass spectrometry. The predominant desorption of water vapor from the frit surface is revealed upon heating the enamel frit to about 200°C. The further heating results in the intense desorption of CO2. At 500°C, the evolution of water vapor again predominates; and the liberation of H2 and CO is insignificant. At the temperatures above 750-800 °C, the composition of the evolved gases is stabilized. At 900°C, the gaseous phase contains H2, 2; H2O, 46; CO, 9; and CO2, 43 vol %. Water and CO2 are adsorbed by the glass enamel frit surface under ordinary conditions. The predominant component that is dissolved in the frit granules is vapor water.
