Abstract:
The methods of firing heating furnaces investigated in a previous communication (roof firing, end firing, and pulsed-flame roof firing) are compared as regards uniformity of distribution of heat fluxes on the heat-receiving surface and heat absorption by calorimeters on the floor of the rig. The best heat flow distribution was obtained with pulsed-flame roof firing. Ordinary roof firing gave the greatest thermal efficiency.
