Abstract:
In process of coal carbonization, byproducts such as coal tar are formed. The coal tar is processed in order to produce coal tar pitch. Thermal oxidation of the coal tar pitch has been considered. It has been shown that the oxidation influences quality of electrode pitch. In this case, rate of thermochemical transformations is dependent on temperature. The transformations have been investigated. Results of the investigations have shown that traditional concepts of low-molecular hydrocarbon conversion to high-molecular hydrocarbon should be revised. New regularities in the transformations have been found. Relations between oxygen and hydrocarbon concentrations play very important role.
