Abstract:

In process of coal carbonization, coal tar is formed. Processing of coal tar leads to separation of coal tar pitch. The coal tar pitch is utilized during production of electrodes. It has been shown that raw material and technological factors influence yield and quality of the coal tar pitch at all stages of coke and by-product process. Structure of the coal tar pitch is connected with state of initial raw material, coal, and conditions of its pyrolysis. The main raw material and technological factors influencing the coal tar pitch quality have been presented. Dependence of quality of electrodes on quality of the coal tar pitch has been described.
