Abstract:
This work examined mass transfer with various rates of flow of a liquid from packing, in which a dispersed phase is formed, which is typical of industrial conditions and where complete liquid circulation in the droplets occurs. The report shows that the efflux conditions for the dispersed phase and the circulation rate have appreciable effects on the mass-transfer rate, and thus on the end effect. Rapid internal circulation also means that end effect decreases somewhat as the viscosity of the dispersed phase increases. This is due to increased energy dissipation by the spontaneous interphase convection vortices in the more viscous medium moving at high speed, which at the same time hinders motion of the liquid in the radial direction.
