Abstract:
Stress relaxation studies were carried out using specimens of maraging steel 03Kh12N8K5M2TYu produced by wire flattening and aged at 650°C. It is shown that the cooling down to the room temperature results in the structure consisting of martensite and reverted austenite. Stress relaxation tests were performed at 20°C and -196°C. Intense stress relaxation observed at subzero temperature is conditioned by isothermal martensitic transformation of reverted austenite. Room temperature stress relaxation proceeds according to a shear mechanism.
