Abstract:
Wire and sheet samples of maraging steel type N16K4M5T2Yu were used to study ageing mechanism after austenization at 800, 950 and 1200°C as well as after 60-75% deformation of quenched steel. The investigation was conducted by the method of differential thermal analysis (DTA). It was concluded about complex multi-stage processes proceeding on ageing which included both precipitation and dissolution of intermetallic phases depending on preliminary treatment. At the first stage metastable rich in titanium phase was revealed to precipitate. The second peak at DTA curves was probably connected with Ni3Ti precipitation, and the third peak might be related to precipitation of Fe2Mo phase.
