Abstract:
The authors study the effect of the austenitizing temperature and degree of plastic deformation on the value and temperature dependence of the modulus of elasticity of maraging steels. The elastic modulus of maraging steel N16K4M5T2Yu is essentially a function of the austenitizing and ageing temperature. An increase in the austenitizing temperature from 800 to 1200 degree C reduces the elastic modulus of steel N16K4M5T2Yu by 3. 4%. After ageing at temperatures up to 500-550 degree C the elastic modulus is increased by 12. 5%. When the ageing temperature is further increased the elastic modulus value falls. During the heating of quenched maraging steel below A//c a considerable difference is observed in the value of the modulus of elasticity before heating and after cooling (structural defect of elastic modulus). An increase in the final heating temperature increases the structural defect of the elastic modulus.
