Abstract:
The authors examine the variation in content of carbide phases during heating and cooling in steel N16K4M5T2Yu (ZI89VI), used in high-duty spring wire and ribbon and cold-stamping dies. The chemical composition is wt. %: C-0. 03; Ni-16. 4; Co-4. 0; Mo-4. 7; Ti-1. 69; Al-0. 26; Cr-0. 08; S-0. 005; P-0. 004. The specimens were quenched from different temperatures in the range 800-1200 degree C. The microstructure and mechanical properties are studied. Heat embrittlement can be suppressed by accelerated cooling in the temperature range 750-800 degree C.
