Abstract:
The oxidation of metallic niobium with bismuth (111)-ions in the fused eutectics (Na-Cs)Cl at 650°C is investigated by potentiometric, analytical and high spectroscopic methods. Spectral curves show the sharply defined maximum in the area near to 16000 and 22000 cm-1, dictated by d-d-transitions, and the edges of intensive bands on charge exchange. It is concluded that the coordinated complex niobium(111) ions are formed in the fused salt under oxidation of metallic Nb with Bi(111) ions.
