Abstract:
A consideration has been given to the influence of crystallization conditions, namely, melt temperature and cooling rate on the microstructure of hypermonoeutectic Al-In alloys. Measurements of liquid alloy viscosity have made it possible to determine critical temperature above which the system transfers from microheterogeneous state to a homogeneous one. Superheating of the melt promotes suppression of macrodecomposition and crystallization of structure with homogeneously distributed phases. High-speed crystallization shifts monotectic point to the side of higher indium contents. The structure of solidified alloys has been studied with the use of light metallography and X-ray diffraction analysis.
