Abstract:
The magnetic crystalline anisotropy (MCA) of the intermetallic compound YCo//5 is due to cobalt atoms which form two sublattices - 2(c) and 3(g). The question of the size of the contributions to MCA of compound YCo//5 from 2(c) and 3(g) sublattices is examined. In the framework of certain hypotheses, it is concluded from analysis of the K//1(x) curve for compounds Y(Co//xNi//1// minus //x)//5 that the MCA constants of c- nd g-sublattices in YCo//5 have the same sign, the ratio of their values being roughly equal to two.
