Abstract:
When making thermal calculations for furnace units, which in accordance with the Standard method must be related to unit volume of fuel burned, the most convenient way is to determine the circulation factor of the solid phase Kc as the ratio of the amount of material trapped by the cyclone and returned to the furnace to the flowrate of initial fuel. This in its turn is established from the circulation factors of carbon KcC and ash Kc.a. The required circulation factor of carbon is determined by the efficiency with which it is burned inside the reactor, which depends in particular on the reactivity of the fuel and its particle size composition. The required circulation factor of ash is determined by the heat balance, and the practicable efficiency of the cyclones by the particle size composition of the ash. This latter is a function of the intensity of attrition and crushing, and is also connected with the initial particle size composition of the fuel.
