Abstract:
Examples of metal and steel production operations with the use of a fluidized bed of fine granular materials as the heating or cooling medium are given. Those examples include annealing of bars and tubes in a fluidized bed, with specific attention given to brass L68 condenser tubes, tubes of LO70-1 alloy, and steel ShKh15 bars and tubing; annealing of copper parts in a fluidized bed; heating for hardening in a fluidized bed using electrocorundum particles; and heat treatment in a fluidized bed with the use of forging heat. Various process parameters and furnace configurations are described for implementing the proposed methods. The effects of fluidized-bed heat treatment on the structure and properties of the products are assessed.
