Abstract:
Gas flow through a semielliptical depression on the surface of a fluidized bed is examined. It is shown that spouting of fine particle material to a great height over the bed is caused by simultaneous coalescence of several gas bubbles along the vertical close to the bed surface. This forms an elongated cavity. The spouting formation mechanism is qualitativly described.
