Abstract:
THE OPTIMUM DISTRIBUTION OF GAS FLOWING THROUGH A GRID INTO A FLUIDIZED BED CAN BE PRODUCED BY CHOOSING THE CORRECT VALUES FOR THE GRID PARAMETERS.THIS OPTIMIZATION IS ESSENTIAL IN A VARIETY OF CHEMICAL PROCESSES.THE LITERATURE CONTAINS ONLY ONE PAPER IN WHICH THE PROBLEM OF EVALUATING THE UNIFORMITY OF THE GAS DISTRIBUTION HAS BEEN APPROACHED QUALITATIVELY FROM ASSESSMENT OF FLUIDIZATION BEHAVIOUR IN THE VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE BED.THIS PAPER PRESENTS A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE UNIFORMITY OF THE FLUIDIZING GAS IN TERMS OF ITS VELOCITY, THE HEIGHT OF THE BED AND THE CROSS SECTION OF THE GAS DISTRIBUTING GRID WHEN THE LEVELS OF THE FLUIDIZED LAYERS IN VARIOUS SECTIONS ARE EQUAL.(A.)
