Abstract:
Using a two-dimensional model of the isothermal motion of a gas flow in an undeformable dense layer, the problem of the effect of the angle of inclination of the shaft walls and the tuyere extension on the nonuniformity of the gas distribution in a blast furnace is solved. A change in the angle of inclination of the shaft walls from 78 to 90 degrees has a significant effect on the degree of nonuniformity of the gas distribution in the furnace volume. At certain tuyere extensions separation of the total region of two-dimensional motion of the gas flow into two zones is observed. The length of the lower zone is determined by the tuyere extension, while the length of the upper zone is determined by the angle of inclination of the shaft walls. The results obtained are confirmed by experimental studies on a cold model of a blast furnace.
