Abstract:
This paper is based on analytical solutions found in Part 1. Our calculations show that there is a downward flow everywhere in a mushy layer at the ICB except localized chimneys where the flow is upward. The mushy layer thickness, the distance between chimneys, their mean size and interdendritic spacing are found. All physical parameters of the mushy layer are in good agreement with previously known estimates.
