Abstract:
X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, magnetometry, and microhardness measurements were used to study structural and phase transformations in the magnetically hard alloy 30Kh23K with different initial phase compositions upon shear deformation under pressure in Bridgman anvils. The different degrees of deformation were reached using a pressure of 8 GPa. It was found that, as a result of severe plastic deformation to high degrees of deformation, a nanocrystalline structure was formed in the bcc α solid solution of this alloy, which was accompanied by the precipitation of the fcc γ phase. It was also found that severe plastic deformation results in a partial transformation of the intermetallic σ phase into the nanocrystalline α phase with a simultaneous increase in the strength and plasticity of the 30Kh23K alloy.
