Abstract:
Phase transitions in solutions of SKMS-10 in ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, an SKMS-10-SKN-18 blend in ethyl acetate, and SKD, SKI, and an SKI-SKD blend in a toluene-ethyl acetate mixture were studied under static conditions and in an applied shearing field using the methods of cloud points and viscometry. It was shown that rubber solutions undergo phase separation upon both heating and cooling. When SKI is added to SKD solutions, a UCST increases and an LCST decreases. Shearing of the systems at a rate up to 600 s(-1) shows virtually no effect on phase transitions in SKD solutions but leads to a rise in temperatures of phase transitions in SKI and SKMS-10 solutions. For solutions of the SKMS-10-SKN-18 and SKI-SKD blends, the inversion of the effect of the shearing field on the solubility of components is observed: at low shear rates, solubility is enhanced, while at high shear rates, this parameter worsens.
