Abstract:
The thermodynamic compatibility of methylstyrene rubber with isoprene and ethylene-propylene rubber was studied by the methods of cloud points, spectrophotometry, viscometry, and static interval sorption. Phase diagrams and the concentration and temperature dependences of the Gibbs mixing energy and the component interaction parameter are plotted. The methylstyrene rubber-isoprene rubber system is shown to he characterized by a phase diagram with a UCST, whereas methylstyrene and ethylene-propylene rubbers appear to be thermodynamically incompatible in a wide range of compositions and temperatures.
