Abstract:
Gd/Co multilayers have been investigated by torquemeter, SQUID magnetometer, and X-ray diffraction. Two models have been proposed to describe the ferrimagnetic structure of Gd/Co multilayer films. The first one assumes the high localization of magnetic layers and nonuniform exchange action on Gd layers of the part of Co layers. The second model considers some mixing of Co and Gd atoms at the interfaces and formation of the Gd-Co layers. On the basis of molecular field theory for both models, the temperature dependences of spontaneous magnetization were designed considering magnetic multiphases of Gd layers, It is found that the first model is more preferable for the description of films properties.
