Abstract:
Fe20Ni74Co6 and Fe20Ni64Co16 magnetic tubes electroplated onto Cu98Be2 conductive wire were investigated in the as-prepared state after heat treatment under a longitudinal DC magnetic field for 1 h at 300 degreesC or 330 degreesC and after deposition of an additional FeNi layer by rf-sputtering in order to receive a hysteresis loop as squarelike as possible and a bistable magnetic state. Heat treatments modify the shape of hysteresis loops. Magnetically bistable behavior is observed after the field annealing at a temperature of 330 degreesC. The bistable behavior of these wires is promising in technological application; it has never been observed before in electroplated wires.
