Abstract:
A systematic study of specific features of the effects of heat treatment in air on the magnetic properties of ribbons of amorphous soft magnetic alloys with a positive saturation magnetostriction using the Fe81B13Si4C2 alloy as an example showed that, apart from the shape effect and a decrease in the level of internal stresses, it is the formation of a surface amorphous-crystalline layer of an optimum thickness that leads to a decrease in the volume of domains with perpendicular magnetization. Such a layer induces predominantly inplane tensile stresses in the amorphous matrix. The anisotropic stresses in the ribbon that appear after heat treatment in air are caused by the corresponding anisotropic distribution of interstitial elements because of the interaction of the ribbon surface with water vapor contained in air. The appearance of these stresses is connected with the initial distribution of magnetization in the ribbon. The appearance of an anisotropy in the rate of surface crystallization stems from the anisotropic distribution of interstitial elements in the surface layer of the ribbon, which likewise is favorable for inducing the anisotropic stresses in the ribbon.
