Abstract:
Various measuring modes of scanning probe microscopy (SPM) are used for visualization of ferroelectric domains in single crystals, ceramics and thin films. In this work we present the application of this powerful technique to micro- and nano- domain structures in ferroelectric single-crystalline lithium niobate LiNbO3 (LN) and lithium tantalate LiTaO3 (LT). Advantages and disadvantages of employed methods are discussed. The variety of unusual domain structures and shapes of individual domains are demonstrated and explained.
